¿Recordará la luna, saliendo
sobre el Monumento a Lincoln
reflejándose en la acequia sucia
de pintura azul descascarada
y escoria, que hace 63 años
25,000 personas llenaron sus riberas
para oír a un profeta contar su sueño
y clamar por la justicia?
No importa si la luna
no recordara;
lo preciso es
que nosotros sí.

Will the moon rising
over the Lincoln Memorial
reflected in the pool defiled
with peeling blue paint
and scum, that 63 years ago
25,000 folks filled its banks
to hear a prophet tell his dream
and clamor for justice?
It matters not that the moon
may not remember;
what is essential
is that we do.
