Lo sabe la luna que perturba las aguas
que el corazón no reconoce leyes;
las reglas que le imponemos
son de la razón y del miedo,
los dioses, las diosas a quienes responde
son del exceso.
Eros es sinónimo de Dios;
lo divino es más allá de leyes.
Si leyes necesitamos
basémoslas en el corazón sano
que ama sin barreras.
Lo sabe la luna perturbadora de las aguas.

---------The Heart and the Moon


The moon that perturbs the waters knows
that the heart is lawless;
the rules that we impose upon it
are of reason and fear,
the gods, the goddesses to whom it responds
are of excess.
Eros is synonym for God;
the divine is beyond laws.
If laws we need
let us base them on the healthy heart
that loves without barriers.
The moon perturber of the waters knows it.

Enséñame el sufrimiento de los más desafortunados;
así conoceré el dolor de mi pueblo.
Líbrame a orar por los demás
porque estás presente en cada persona.
Ayúdame a tomar responsabilidad de mi propia vida;
sólo así, seré libre al fin.
Concédeme valentía para servir al prójimo
porque en la entrega hay vida verdadera.
Concédeme honradez y paciencia
para que yo pueda trabajar junto con otros trabajadores.
Alúmbranos con el canto y la celebración

Show me the suffering of the most miserable;
thus I will know my people's plight.
Free me to pray for others,
for you are present in every person.
Help me take responsibility for my own life
so that I can be free at last.
Grant me courage to serve my neighbor
for in surrender is there truly life.
Grant me honesty and patience
so that I can work with other workers.
Enlighten us with song and celebration
so that the spirit will be alive among us.
Let the spirit flourish and grow
so that we will never tire of the struggle.
Let us remember those who have died for justice
for they have given us life.

El nuestro es un hogar de agua
y agua somos —
de su vientre de agua venimos
y su agua salada de mar
corre por nosotros hasta la muerte.
Sus aguas nos alimentan
por río y arroyuelos,
el mar y las nubes
suspendidas o corriente sobre nosotros,
cautivas en los picos de los montes
y en las ramas de árboles,
las hojas de la hierba.
Bautismo y bendición de agua
es nuestro nacer
y sagrada es la humedad de nuestras vidas.
Cuidado que no blasfemos
-----------el don.

Ours is a water home
& water are we —
from her water womb we come
& her salt sea water
courses through us until death.
Her waters feed us
through river & stream,
the sea & the clouds
hovering or racing over us,
caught on the mountain peaks
& the branches of trees,
the blades of grasses.
Baptism & water blessing
is our birth
& sacred the wetness of our lives.
Take care we not blaspheme
-------------the gift.
