full moon: Harvest Moon

 

              Luna de la cosecha

Esta luna de la cosecha
lo que fue sembrado
    (a sabiendas o no)
                ha madurado —
el trigo y la hierba mala,
el maíz sagrado y el maíz violado.

Se ha recogido; 
    se tendrá que escoger.

Que la luz de la luna
nos dé la claridad
    para cernir sabiamente,
        para espigar con cuidado.

This harvest moon
what was sown
    (wittingly or unwittingly)
                has ripened —
the wheat & the tares,
the holy corn & the violated corn.

It is gathered
    and the sorting must be done.

May the moon’s light
give us the clarity
    to sift wisely,
        to glean with care.
