Luna indiferente
La luna a quien los
coyotes y lobos
le cantan sus cantos
lastimeros
como si les vinieran
de algo
como el amor que les
doliera
indiferente alumbra
los recodos del poder
—
la casa blanca donde
embustero ignorante
cara anaranjada, pelo
amarillo,
pescuezo rojizo rige
el imperio;
el senado y cámara
cuyas portavoces
Labios-disformes y
Ojos-de-muerto
lo apoyan; la corte
que ha decidido
que el dinero (porque
habla)
es una forma de expresión.
Lo coyotes y lobos no
alaban a luna
sino lamentan su
indiferencia

Indifferent Moon
The
moon to whom the coyotes & wolfs
sing
their plaintive songs
as
if they came from something
like
love that hurt them,
indifferent
lights
the
twists of power —
the
white house where
an
ignorant liar
orange
face, yellow hair,
ruddy
neck rules the empire;
the
senate & the house whose speakers
Grim-Lips
& Dead-Eyes
back
him; the court that has ruled
that
money (because it talks)
is
a form of speech.
The
coyotes & wolfs do not praise the moon
but
lament her indifference.
