¡Jerusalén!
---¡Jerusalén!
------¡Jerusalén!
en reproche te canta la luna
en el muro de lamentos y de sollozos,
en la tumba iluminada,
en la bóveda sobre la roca.
---Ya no te protege Miguel,
---ni Gabriel ya te consuela,
---ni Rafael ya te sana.

En los cristales y espejos rotos
se quiebra la luna en mil pedazos
---y tantos dioses
que desde los días de Abel y Caín
muestran preferencia por sangre
---le exigen a Abráham
que se sacrifiquen todos sus hijos.

Tal vez ya no hayan tantos arbustos
cada cual con su morueco
para impedir el holocausto
---ni de sus hijos ni de sus dioses
cada cual en un cerebro.
---¡Jerusalén!
------¡Jerusalén!
---------¡Jerusalén!
canta la luna en reproche.

Jerusalem!

in reproach sings the moon
on the wall of wailing & sobs,
on the lit tomb,
on the dome over the rock.
---Michael no longer protects you,
---nor does Gabriel console you,
---nor does Raphael heal you.

On the broken crystals & mirrors
the moon breaks in a thousand pieces
---& as many gods
which since the days of Abel & Cain
show a preference for blood---demand of Abraham
that all his children be sacrificed.

Perhaps there are not so many bushes
each one with its ram
to prevent the holocaust
---nor of the children nor of their gods
each one within a head.
---Jerusalem!
------Jerusalem!
---------Jerusalem!
the moon sings in reproach.
