Fue en 1986 en un festival de arte en Sevilla que for primera vez vi su obra. Mi admiración ha crecido con los años. Pocos testigos del mundo y la Tierra que lo sustiene ve tan claramente y con tan grande corazón.
Les recomiendo la extraordinaria película sobre él y su obra "Sal de la tierra" (no para ser confundida con la película de 1954 sobre las huelgas mineras en Nuevo México del mismo título) recientemente sacada.

I will dedicate my part of the reading to one of the witnesses of the last and this century who I most admire: Sebastião Salgado, photographer.
It was in 1986 at an art festival in Sevilla that I first saw his work. My admiration has only grown with the years. Few witnesses of the world and the Earth that bears it see so clearly and with such great heart.
I recommend to you the extraordinary film on him and his work "Salt of the Earth" (not to be confused with the 1954 film of the New Mexico miners' strikes of the same title) recently released.
