Celebrate the birthday of Benito Juárez, the first
Mexican leader who did not have a military
background and the first indigenous national to
serve as President. This is a benefit for the San
Francisco Living Wage Coalition that has been
fighting for higher wages in the United States, and
Las Hormigas in Ciudad Juárez, a grass-roots
organization that has been working to heal the
wounds of violence and poverty, and to build a
new community and social reality in Mexico.
Through cross-border solidarity between workers
in the United States and workers in Mexico we can
reverse the vicious downward spiral of low wages.

Vamos a celebrar el cumpleaños de Benito Juárez,
el primer líder mexicano que no tenía antecedentes
militares y el primer ciudadano indígena en ocupar
la presidencia. Este es un beneficio para la Coalición
de Salario Digno de San Francisco que ha estado
luchando por salarios más altos en los Estados
Unidos, y Las Hormigas en Ciudad Juárez, una
organización de base que ha estado trabajando para
sanar las heridas de la violencia y la pobreza, y para
construir una nueva comunidad y realidad social en
México. Mediante la solidaridad transfronteriza entre
los trabajadores de los Estados Unidos y los trabajadores
de México, sí se puede revertir la viciosa espiral
descendente de los bajos salarios.
