                                            para Paul

 

El sol centella
de los árboles y el agua —
Me maravillo de su regocijo.
También me maravillo
de la súbita punzada 
de ternura por un amigo.
No comprendo ninguno,
pero bendigo al sol, a los árboles,
al agua, al amigo.

                                    for Paul
 
 
The sun glances
off the trees & water —
I marvel at its joy.
I also marvel

at the sudden stab

of tenderness for a friend.

       I understand neither,

but I bless the sun, the trees,

the water, the friend.
