-------------El grito
Alcemos el grito de nuevo,
por la justicia, la paz,
independencia del nuevo imperio
y de un gobierno corrupto
que ensucia la bandera
ni de esperanza ni de unidad
ni de sangre derramada
por los héroes
sino por las víctimas.
La culebra ahorca al águila
y se seca el nopal.
Alcemos el grito
que el amor no es
por algo abstracto como la nación
sino por la tierra y el maíz,
por el pueblo que sufre y festeja,
por la flor y el canto,
por lo que es lo mexicano
de carne y de hueso.
Por eso de nuevo alcemos el grito.

Let us raise the cry anew
for justice, for peace,
independence from the new empire
& from a government corrupt
which has dirtied the flag
neither of hope nor of unity,
nor of the blood spilled
by the heroes
but by the victims.
The snake strangles the eagle
& the cactus dries.
Let us raise the cry,
for love is not
for something abstract as nation
but for the land & the corn,
for the people who suffer & celebrate,
for the flower & the song,
for what is Mexican
of flesh & of bone.
For that let us anew raise the cry.
