Ramadán

 

Es con corazón doliente que les deseo a nuestros hermanos, hermanas islámicos un bendito Ramadán. Ni siquiera la dulzura de los dátiles puede disminuir la amargura en el corazón por la muerte y el sufrimiento que el gobierno sionista-fascista de Israel, con la complicidad de los Estados Unidos, ha causado a nuestros hermanos, hermanas palestinos. Alzo mis rezos y mi voz por un alto el fuego inmediato y el fin del homicidio en Gaza. Que la luz de la compasión y la justicia nos ilumine los corazones.

It is with a heavy heart that I wish our Islamic brothers & sisters a blessed Ramadan. Not even the sweetness of dates can lessen the bitterness in my heart at the death and suffering caused our Palestinian brothers and sisters by the Zionist-fascist government of Israel with the complicity of the United States. I raise my prayers and my voice for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the homicide in Gaza. May the light of compassion and justice light our hearts.

En el noveno mes
cuando la luna nueva
    apenas se asoma
empieza el ayuno nocturno
y la penitencia
hasta que un hilo blanco
se distinga de un hilo negro.

the nightly fasting begins
and the penance
until a white thread
is distinguished
from a black one.
