La luna llena que debería llevar
un tinte azul sale por entre las ramas
del roble, del encino con tinte naranja
debido al humo de los bosques en llamas
como los velos más ralos
entre el mundo de los vivos
y el mundo de los muertos
como creían los druidas de esta noche
de su año viejo. Todos salimos
enmascarados no para protegernos
de espíritus malignos
sino para protegernos unos a los otros
de la peste que nos trae la muerte.
No tememos ni a brujas ni a espantos
mas a los hombres, mujeres
de corazón carcomido, locos
de codicia y poder, injustos, crueles.
Votamos por la vida o por la muerte
en este crucero del tiempo.

---------------Druid Moon
The full moon that should have
a blue tint rises among the branches
of the oaks with a tinge of orange
due to the smoke of the forests on fire
like the thinnest of veils
between the world of the living
& the world of the dead
as the druids believed of this night
of their old year. We all go out
masked, not to protect ourselves
from malignant spirits
but to protect one another
from the plague that brings death.
We do not fear witches nor ghosts
but the men, women
with hearts of rot, crazed
with greed & power, unjust & cruel.
We vote for life or for death
at this crossroads of time.
